About ROOTS-Rekkalu (Wings) Project: The ROOTS-Rekkalu project aims at strengthening comprehensive rehabilitation for children in the institutions through psycho-social intervention and vocational education & skilling opportunities. Focus areas of the project: Psychosocial support to children through individual, group and family conferencing; preparing/assisting in preparing case reports and ICP; and working with specific JJBs by the caseworkers and counsellors; skilling and vocational education through programmatic interventions, such as referrals for vocational courses, providing in-house skill training, entrepreneurship, on-job training and pre-vocational training facilities in partnership with different stakeholders. Overall the integrated project enhances the psycho-social wellbeing of care leavers, builds confidence and self-esteem and facilitates their abilities to gain employment in their area of interest, and enable their meaningful participation in society
