About ALERT INDIA:

ALERT-INDIA, a non-profit organization is committed to improve the health and social status of people affected by leprosy and other communicable diseases with special focus on vulnerable groups such as tribal, women, children and disabled through people-centric disease control programs and community initiatives.

LTBI project :

ALERT INDIA has been awarded a project on controlling the Latent TB Infections in four districts of Gujarat. India, with one-fourth of the global burden of TB, is estimated to have around 40% of the total population infected with TB. The lifetime risk of reactivation of the infection in healthy individual is 10%, with 5% developing TB disease during first 2 to 5 years after the infection. Treating 40% of the population after having determined the infection through appropriate tests and consultation is neither feasible nor rational or practical approach, thereby, emphasizing a need for a strategy to control the dormant infection and never let it grow into a full fledge TB disease.
In order to achieve the above, LTBI project has been introduced with funding from “Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria “(GFATM) having William J Clinton Foundation (WJCF) & Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) as the Principal Recipient (PR) and ALERT INDIA as the Sub Recipient (SR) for the grant.

The Job:

In close coordination and consultation with the State TB Department, ALERT INDIA is committed to initiate the implementation of the LTBI project from Kutch district. In that reference, ALERT INDIA is planning to hire individuals in various capacities to implement, monitor, supervise and manage project implementation in the district and therefore

Applications are invited for the following post;

LTBI Coordinators,

LTBI Project, SR

Role:

• Coordinate with Tele counsellors, programme staff (STS, TB HIV etc.) and PPSA staff to obtain information on notified TB patients
• Conduct home visit within 15 days of treatment initiation and meet the patient and close contacts to counsel them on LTBI, undertake symptom screening and answer their queries on TB and LTBI treatment
• Link symptomatic contacts for X-ray/Microscopic examination at nearest public or private health facility
• Ensure provision of drugs for LTBI to all the close contacts who are detected to have the infection
• Conduct follow-up visits to contacts for tracking drug adherence and ensuring drug refills
• Provide additional support for contacts who have left the treatment mid-way for resuming the treatment
• Provide necessary support to patients in case of Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR)
• Counsel patients and family members for continuous and complete course of treatment
• Record treatment adherence on a monthly basis and treatment outcome at the end of treatment
• Maintain duly completed patient records and share them with MIS Assistant on a periodic basis
• Provide information on social support/security schemes for which patients are eligible
• Any other task/s assigned by District Lead, State Lead or other seniors

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Educational qualification – Graduation/post-graduation in social science or above, preferably MSW
• Experience of having worked in TB Control programme will be given preference and weightage.
• Proficiency in local language, basic knowledge of English (written) is desirable
• Effective communication skill is the most desirable attribute that is expected from a candidate as counselling is most crucial aspect of the job profile of a LTBI Coordinator
• Candidate should possess emphatic nature and is expected to demonstrate utmost dedication and commitment towards performing his/her duty
